27 November 2015 – 31 January 2016
Christie van der Haak has created a site-specific installation that transforms the entire space into a vivid extravaganza of (sometimes dazzlingly coloured) fairy tale patterns. The spectacle is complemented by fabric designs, objets d’art and paintings, including the artist’s Apocalyptic Horsemen series from the Gemeentemuseum’s own collection.
On 27 November 2015, artist Christie van der Haak was awarded the Ouborg Prize 2015 in recognition of her extensive and varied oeuvre. The award ceremony also marked the opening of her exhibition, entitled Sproken / Fairy Tales, at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. The Ouborg Prize jury praised the artist’s versatility and the impressive way in which she works at the interface of art and design, employs a wide range of materials and techniques, and communicates her unfailing enthusiasm and passion to others.
